From time to time, I may find suggested reading about horses that I have not written but are still great information to share. I will put a list of links with short descriptions here for you.
How do horses sleep?
This article focuses on everything you might want to know about how horses sleep. Do horses sleep standing up, or must they lie down? Can they dream as humans do? How many hours of sleep do they need daily? How are horses’ sleeping habits the same or different compared to those of other large animals? All these questions are answered when you click to read more.
Thank you, Tuck, for suggesting we add this article for our readers.
What can you do with Miniature Horses?
Are you wondering what you can do with miniature horses? You can do many things with miniature horses. They can use them as Therapy Horses; you can show them in Miniature Horse Shows. Miniature horses can be trained to drive and pull a cart for pleasure, show, or parades. Last and most important is enjoying them.
This photo is of my miniature horse stallion named DDMinis Majics Music Man or M&M for short. He is 26 1/2 inches tall and tiny for a small horse that is not a dwarf miniature horse. He loves to jump and show.
A Horse Rescue Story
Kill pens are businesses that have captured and caged horses for “holding” that are unwanted, discarded, and abandoned until they are shipped to Mexico or Canada to be slaughtered. Many people who send their horses to auction after deciding they don’t want to keep them, are unaware that their once-beloved horses are destined for the kill pen. To rescue or adopt a horse from a kill pen, a “bail” fee of several hundred dollars must be paid to the kill pen before they will release the horse.
